CODE OF CONDUCT
As Star Trek fans we are always in the public spotlight.
Because of misconceptions regarding fans of Star Trek, quick judgments may come about from the general public.
As crew-members we must be on our best behavior. Thus a Code of Conduct is presented here.
It is asked that any visitors that attend a Seventh Fleet Activity or an Activity of a Seventh Fleet Chapter please follow these guidelines.
If you have any questions about the Code of Conduct, feel free to contact your Department Chief or your Chapter’s Executive Officer.
I will always behave in a manner that brings credit to the Fleet, my ship and myself.
I will always praise in public and critique in private.
I will show courtesy to my subordinates, fellow officers and superior officers at all times.
I will never assume, but always verify.
I will be resolute in the performance of my duty and the execution of Fleet policy and regulations.
I will always defuse confrontations, not cause.
I will listen to both sides of a dispute and act upon fact, not innuendo.
I will strive for impartiality and fairness in judgment and disqualify myself from decisions where my judgment may be compromised.
I will be the first to praise, the last to criticize.
I will always strive to be Part of the solution, not part of the problem.
Further regulations were added for the safety and benefit of the fleet by the Commander in Chief, Admiral Dennis Hollinger.
Some of the regulations mirror the above Code of Conduct but re-words it for clarification.
I will not bring drugs, alcohol, tobacco or use foul language to/at meetings.
I will not come to activities if I am sick.
I will clean up after myself and help clean up at activities.
I will avoid reckless horseplay.
I will leave prejudices, rumors, gossip and backbiting out of activities.
I will not cheat or take advantage of fellow crew-members.
A lot of hard work is put into the various activities by a large number of Seventh Fleet crew-members.
We ask that visitors come prepared to have fun and to not interfere with the activities that have been assembled.
Usually there are a lot of informal, after-the-meeting gatherings (such as dinner) if non-event issues need to be addressed.
